In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to set a drilled focal bead in a woven wire frame, using various wire weaving techniques. We’ll also cover how to set a gemstone oval stone in a wire-wrapped bail and create an elegant wire prong setting. I hope you find these wire work techniques helpful! What you will need to make this design:
Wire:
- 5 m of 0.4 mm (26 ga) round wire
- 1 m of 0.6 mm (22 ga) round wire
- 2 m of 0.8 mm (16 ga) square wire
Gemstones & beads:
- 2 x 2 mm copper beads
- 2 x 2.5 mm copper beads
- 2 x 4 mm copper beads
- 1 x 5 mm copper bead
- 1 x 12 mm focal bead
- 1 x 10 mm oval or pear focal bead8 mm round CZ or gemstone
Tools you will need:
- Heavy duty cutters
- Chain nose pliers
- Flat nose pliers
- Round nose pliers
- Bent nose pliers (optional)
- Bail making pliers (optional)
- Polishing materials
